Ultimate pH values and bacteriological condition of meat and stress metabolites in blood of transported reindeer bulls

The Stomacher® 400 was used to blend reindeer meat for two minutes.

The study found that at slaughter, there was no difference in ASAT activity, urea and Cortisol concentrations between the two transported groups. However, the plasma ASAT activity and urea concentrations at slaughter were significantly lower in the non-transported group. In both transport groups, the plasma Cortisol concentrations increased during loading onto and unloading from the lorry. Abomasal lesions were observed in all treatment groups. It was concluded that reindeer showed an acute stress response to manual handling and transport.

Influence of variations in methodology on populations of Listeria monocytogenes recovered from lettuce treated with sanitizers

Stomaching, homogenizing, or stomaching followed by homogenizing lettuce treated with sanitizers resulted in recovery of similar numbers of L. monocytogenes, indicating that stomaching and homogenizing are equivalent in extracting cells.

Human wharton’s jelly cells-isolation and characterization in different growth conditions

The enzyme solution with tissue is taken out and put in the stomacher strainer bags with inner tissue filter at the rate of 25 ml of enzyme solution per bag. The air in the bag is removed to prevent the bag from rupturing and the bag is sealed at least twice at the top using a heat sealer. The bag is placed in the stomacher 400 Circulator and the stomacher is run at 150 rpm for 10 minutes at 37˚C.

Regulation of breast cancer stem cell activity by signaling through the notch 4 receptor

The Stomacher® 80 was used to blend solid tumors for 12 minutes.

Notch receptor signaling pathways play an important role not only in normal breast development but also in breast cancer development and progression. We assessed the role of Notch receptors in stem cell activity in breast cancer cell lines and nine primary human tumor samples. Our findings suggest that Notch4-targeted therapies will be more effective than targeting Notch1 in suppressing breast cancer recurrence, as it is initiated by breast cancer stem cells.
